EOS is a broadband pump-probe sub-nanosecond transient absorption spectrometer with an extended time window. Its patented design utilizes a photonic crystal fiber for probe light generation. EOS provides this extended time window in a single housing. With its ~500 ps time resolution and the electronically controlled pump-probe delay EOS, in combination with HELIOS, provides continuous temporal coverage from femtoseconds to milliseconds and beyond with no gaps. It is the perfect solution that obviates the need for ultrafast researchers to add Q-switched lasers and nanosecond spectrometers to their armamentarium.

Probe Spectral Range:

• 400-900 nm
• 800-1700 nm

Spectral Resolution:

Spectral resolution of the spectrometers inside of Eos can be adjusted to customer’s requirements.
Standard spectral resolution:
• VIS – 1.5 nm
• NIR – 3.5 nm

Time Window:

From nanoseconds to 400 microseconds

Temporal Resolution:

The instrument response function is 500 ps. The minimum time step size is 50 ps.

Transient Absorption Anisotropy:

An optional extension to Eos allows for transient absorption anisotropy measurements.

Probe Reference:

The Eos utilizes a two-channel probe or “probe-reference” method. In this approach the probe beam is split into two before passing through the sample. While one leg travels through the sample, the other is sent directly to the reference spectrometer that monitors the fluctuations in the probe beam intensity. The main advantage of this technique is that it allows the user to achieve the specified signal-to-noise ratio with a lower number of averaged laser pulses.

Data Format:

The Eos produces a 3-Dimensional Wavelength-Time-Absorbance data matrix in a form of an ASCII CSV file, which can be easily processed with our software or third party software.

VIS Detector:

Fiber optics coupled multichannel spectrometer with CMOS sensor with 1.5 nm intrinsic resolution. Sensitivity range: 350-850 nm. Maximum spectral acquisition rate - 9500 spectra/s. Can be mounted away from the Eos enclosure.

NIR :

Fiber optics coupled multichannel spectrometer with InGaAs sensor with 3.5 nm intrinsic resolution. Sensitivity range: 800-1600 nm. Maximum spectral acquisition rate - 7900 spectra/s. Can be mounted away from the Eos enclosure.

Laser requirement:

EOS is designed to work in combination with an amplified Ti:sapphire laser.

Laser frequency range:

~1000 Hz

Software:

Data acquisition:
Instrument control and data acquisition are governed by LabVIEW-based software which allows for experiment automation, such as the current optical delay step size, the averaging time for each transient spectrum, and the time window. Alternatively, the user can adjust the above parameters while the data collection process is running. Random delay line stepping is also available for the above regimes.

Data analysis:
Eos comes with a complete data acquisition EosTM and data analysis Surface XplorerTM software package. Please refer to the Surface Xplorer section for more details.

Dimensions:

W24” x L36” x H10” (W610 x L915 x H250mm)
