Halcyone is a hybrid instrument that includes
a Fluorescence Upconversion Spectrometer and
a Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting unit.
Halcyone is used in the upconversion mode to
resolve fluorescence decay kinetics with femtosecond
time resolution within a time window of 3.2
ns and a 400-1600 nm spectral range. The built
in TCSPC unit allows for extending the time
window of measurements up to 1 ms (when used
with an amplified femtosecond laser) with a
temporal resolution of ca 200 ps. Switching
between the upconversion and the TCSPC modes
is done in seconds without having to change
the optical setup. Halcyone can work with either
a mode locked Ti-sapphire oscillator (such as
Tsunami®
or MaiTai®, Spectra Physics*) or or
with a regeneratively amplified Ti-sapphire
laser (for example
Spitfire®
Pro, Spectra Physics* or
RegA,
Coherent*).
